Update - Port of Miami and World Trade Center
Friday, June 29, 2012
The World Trade Center Miami, Inc. (WTCM) in association with the Port Miami (POM) engaged Johnson Consulting to perform a market research-based analysis for the development of a World Trade Center (WTC) complex to be located at the Port of Miami. The feasibility study encompasses the phased development of a 36-acre parcel POM property that will be known as the World Trade Center District at the Port of Miami. The initial phase is expected to be the development of a office and mixed-use complex, to be located on a 2.7 acre site designated as World Trade Center Miami. This study provides a plan that identifies how the project can be used to leverage several broad economic and redevelopment goals that should lead to commercial success and further enhance the identity of Miami as an international and hemispheric trade hub. This analysis also assesses the viability of the project, the supply and demand characteristics for traditional WTC functions and facilities, as well as other potential tourism, trade and commercial real estate activities. The analysis will conclude with quantifying the economic and fiscal impact of this high profile and strategic project at the State, County, and municipal levels.n
