The Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority (MPEA) engaged C.H. Johnson Consulting staff to assist with the redevelopment of Chicago.s historic Navy Pier. Located on Lake Michigan and close to the heart of Chicago's downtown area, Navy Pier.s redevelopment was an important element in the revitalization of the nearby Streeterville neighborhood. Prior to its redevelopment, Navy Pier was underused and falling into disrepair. C.H. Johnson Consulting.s staff served as advisor to the MPEA throughout the redevelopment process and analyzed a variety of individual facility components. The scope of work included a market and financial analysis, development of a business plan for overall facility operations and advice on how the exhibition hall should interact with other real estate components. We also worked extensively with the MPEA to review design plans. Because of the redevelopment, Navy Pier now successfully provides local residents and out-of-town visitors with recreational, entertainment, business, and cultural attractions. It has become the number one tourist attraction in the Chicago area, drawing over 8 million visitors per year. This unique mixed-use development includes exhibition space, theatres, retail outlets, a children.s museum, and various other entertainment venues. |
