PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Johnson Consulting was retained by Pasco County, FL to undertake a market feasibility study for a public/private sports complex development at Wiregrass Park in Wesley Chapel, FL. After completing the feasibility study, the County engaged Johnson Consulting to manage the Request for Proposals (RFP) to identify a firm to develop, manage and operate the recommended facility.
The County wished to leverage County-owned land into an asset that will enhance the tourism base within the County and serve as an economic generator, while also serving the needs of local residents. The proposed public-private facility would attract and host youth and adult sports tournaments/ leagues, as well as non-sports recreational events such as tradeshows, consumer shows and festivals to draw visitors year round. After conducting a Market Assessment in Phase 1 of our Sports Complex Study, Johnson Consulting recommended an indoor/outdoor sports complex with the following program: Multipurpose indoor complex ranging from (85,000 to 100,000 sq. ft.) and 5-6 outdoor multipurpose rectangular fields, with at least 1 lighted field.
Subsequently, Johnson Consulting was engaged for Phase 3 to manage the RFP process, identifying a firm to develop, manage and operate the recommended facility from Phase 2. Johnson Consulting successfully assisted with writing, review, marketing and distribution of the RFP document as well as participated in the review of submitted proposals and selection of a manager/operator.
