PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Johnson Consulting was engaged by the Greater Baltimore Committee, a civic/business organization, to assess tourism related economic development opportunities and challenges in Harford County. We evaluated the economic and demographic indicators, tourism products, and existing tourism promotion resources and efforts. We also conducted interviews with key organizations and stakeholders and conducted a benchmark analysis of comparable tourism organizations in different markets.
As part of our assessment, we evaluated the meeting and sports tourism market. We reviewed all existing sports facilities in Harford County and evaluated market demand for such facilities as well as unmet future demand related to the Aberdeen Proving Grounds. We also conducted an analysis of the needs and feasibility of a convention center to address the growing demands, or needs of a facility for business meetings and conferences for both Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and non-BRAC related events and activities.
Johnson Consulting developed recommendations and priorities for Harford County to achieve on-going growth in the region, including an enhanced vision to position Harford County as a stronger tourism destination.
